TexShare is a service of the State Library and Archives Commission. The TexShare Card Program (Lone Star Libraries) offers special, free TexShare cards that may be used at any participating academic or public library in Texas.
Libraries who participate in the TexShare program offer a whole new world of books, videos and other materials for their library patrons.

TexShare also offers a powerful online information resource, a collection of more than 60 electronic databases featuring:

Full-text access to over 2,000 professional and academic journals, newspaper and magazine archives

Online encyclopedias

And nearly 20,000 electronic books (eBooks) are among the resources available through the TexShare Databases

Each the database is a searchable storehouse of information about every topic under the sun. Think of it as a mega search engine, one that only retrieves the most current, accurate and relevant information. It’s like having a reference library at your computer! Whether you need to find the characteristics of an aardvark for a school paper, search the text of multiple newspapers for the most recent stock quotes, or find current medical information about a health concern, TexShare is your reliable online information source.

Who can use the TexShare databases, and how much does it cost?

The TexShare database is a free service for Texans. State government funding from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission makes this free service available.
Using the State's buying power these databases were obtained at a fraction of their usual cost.
Access the powerful TexShare database resource at your local college, university or public library. You may also use the TexShare database from your home or work computer once you have received a login and password from your library. Use TexShare anywhere!

Why do I need TexShare when I have the Internet?

The Internet is a fantastic resource; however, how do you know that what you find on the Internet is really accurate information? How do you know it’s safe for children? How do you ensure that when you do a search on the Internet, the information it returns is relevant to what you are seeking? TexShare takes care of all of these problems for you. Each TexShare database only contains accurate, verified information that is appropriate for all age groups. When you search using TexShare, the results are relevant to your questions. TexShare doesn't return page after page of useless links when all you needed was a simple answer. If that wasn't enough, TexShare also contains absolutely no advertisements or pop-up windows.
