Help Us Buy a new Microfilm Reader/Printer

Our old microfilm reader has reached the end of the road. It cannot be upgraded for use with a computer and we cannot afford to have it repaired again.

A new machine would have the ability to scan rolls of microfilm or microfiche using a word or numeric search, which would making searching for your ancestors a quick and easy task.  It would also be able to copy and e-mail articles and photos from the microfilm directly to people who cannot travel to our library to do research.

The new machine has the ability to lighten and clarify even very old, dark microfilm so it can be read, scanned, e-mailed or printed.

We have microfilmed newspapers from 1881-1989, census records from 1850 to 1910, Johnson County Marriage records from1883 to 1930, Johnson County deed records from 1836 to 1903,  a copy of A Memorial and Biographical History of Johnson and Hill Counties,  and a copy of A History of Johnson County Baptists.  All of these materials  are used for genealogy or historic research.
