Alvarado Public Library's Juvenile  Summer Reading Club Guidelines
(Age: toddler to 12 years)

Our goal is to encourage reading! 

Everyone who registers for the Reading Club will receive a pony bead craft!

For every five books you read you will receive a pony bead for your necklace, keychain or bracelet craft.
Bring in your book tracker forms and select your beads!

Please pick up book tracking forms at the circulation desk

Three age categories: 5-8, 9-10 & 11-12

Children aged 13 and up participate in the Teen Reading Club.

*Parents may read to their children ages 4 and under so their children may receive a certificate and coupons for free surprises -but they will not qualify for Top Reader Prizes.

*Please note - If you have a three or four year old child who can demonstrate their reading skills aloud to us at the library they will be allowed to compete with the 5-7 year old children for top reader prizes.

Parents must initial all tracking forms and make sure the forms are returned to the library by Monday, July 28th.

Coupons and Certificates
All children who complete the Summer Reading Club tracking form, that their parents have chosen, will receive coupons for free surprises from local area merchants and a certificate signed by Texas Governor Rick Perry to be awarded on
Wednesday, July 30th at 4:00 p.m. 
Coupons and certificates may be picked up at a later date but please remember that the coupons will expire on August 31st.

Special Prizes
We will have a drawing for special prizes to the children who have read the most books in their age group. These awards are not given to children who cannot read for themselves.

  • To qualify as Top Readers, children should complete at least two tracking forms.

  • The top five children in each age group, who read the most titles will receive a Gift Certificate from Border's Books & Music..

  • Everyone who completes the minimum requirements will also receive a special Texas themed surprise.

 

 In conjunction with our Summer Reading Program theme we will be featuring comic books,  graphic novels and new fiction as well as nonfiction books on many different subjects. We will be ordering new books all summer and we hope you will remember to make requests for your favorite authors or subjects at the circulation desk.
