Computer and Library
Use Policies
If you or your family
members violate any of the following rules you and your family members
will not be allowed to use or borrow materials from the library or use the public access computers.
Computer Use Policy
Before you can use a
computer, you must
sign a Computer Use Agreement, which will be kept on file at the
library and check out a computer from a Library Staff member.
After filling out the Computer Use Agreement, on subsequent visits
to the library, you must provide a valid driver’s license or your library card, which is in
good standing and issued by the Alvarado Public Library, as a form
of identification to be used when you wish to check out a computer
for yourself or your children or legal dependents.
Please read and be
sure you understand the following rules:

You must have
permission from a Staff
member before you insert a diskette, CD or USB/Flash drive in a library computer. |

You may
not
use the computer's print function. |
 |
All
printing must be done by a Library Staff member. |
 |
Unless a
staff person tells you otherwise, you must pay ten cents per page
for materials printed or photocopied. |
 |
Only one
copy of each print job may be done using the Library printer. If
needed, multiple copies may be made by Library Staff on the
photocopy machine. |
 |
Until any
overdue items are returned and any outstanding fines or fees are paid you and
your family members may not use a public access computer.
Overdue materials are assessed for fines at a rate of ten cents per item
per day. |
 |
While
they are using a computer, you will sit next to and monitor the
behavior of your children or legal dependents who are under twelve
(12) years of age. |
 |
You, your
children or legal dependents may not use the public access computers
to view illegal web sites or web sites with content that would be
inappropriate for children to view. |
 |
You, your
children or legal dependents will not attempt to turn off a
computer, take apart any computer component or *peripheral, attempt
to "End a Task" or use the CTRL ALT DEL command on a
computer or in any way damage a computer, software program or a
*peripheral. |

You, your
children or legal dependents will not use the library’s e-mail
address, as a return address, for any reason. You, your children or
legal dependents will not send any e-mail which would imply it is
being sent by the library or any library staff member. |

If your
personal information - address, e-mail address, telephone numbers,
or your contact information - work phone, personal contact names
or phone numbers change you must notify the Library Staff verbally
or in writing within ten (10) days of said changes. |
*In this instance we are
using the term peripheral to mean a monitor, mouse, keyboard, speaker,
headphones, connectors, cords, cables or power supply component.
Library

Anyone, of any
age, creating a public disturbance (i.e. crying, screaming,
shouting, cursing, running, tumbling, or arguing with other patrons,
family members or legal dependants, Library Staff or Library
Volunteers will be asked to leave the premises. |

You will be held
financially responsible for missing date cards and repairs or replacement
costs for any damage
that you or your family members may do to books -in both audio and
print format, display units, furniture, games and game boards,
magazines, puzzles, shelving, videos - in both VHS and DVD format,
computers or *computer peripherals, and software or any other
materials used inside the Library or borrowed for take-home use. |

If your
personal information - address, e-mail address, telephone numbers,
or your contact nformation - work phone, personal rcontact names
or phone numbers change you must notify the Library Staff verbally
or in writing within ten (10) days of said changes. |

You must
pay any fines or fees incurred by yourself or your family members or legal
dependants before you may borrow any materials or use the public
access computers. Overdue materials are assessed for fines at a rate
of ten cents per item per day. |

You must
remain in the Library Building and closely supervise your children or legal
dependents who are under seven (7) years or age. |
