Colleges & Universities

How do you find out which college or university you will like or which one offers the degree programs in which you are interested? A "virtual visit" is a good place to start. A real life visit is the next step.

Colleges and Universities in Texas - sponsored by 50States.com - this site also includes links to online colleges and universities and technical institutes.

50states.com - includes an alphabetical listing with links to college and university wbesites for every state in the U.S. and a special link to Community Colleges.

Texas Colleges and Universities - part of the Minnie Steven Piper Foundation website in conjunction with Window on State Government website.

 US News College Resources website - includes valuables links and articles on America's best colleges, how to get started, choose the right school, build a great application and find money. 

Financial Aid & Scholarships

The websites listed below will help you find financial aid and scholarships in Texas and other states.

Alphabetical Index to Scholarships and Other Financial Aid Programs - links to private foundation scholarships, as well as various grants and loan programs.

Federal Financial Aid Programs - links to federal financial aid programs including Air Force ROTC Scholarship program, Army ROTC Scholarship program,  Navy-Marine Corps ROTC Scholarship Program,  Pell Grant, Federal Work Study program and others.

State of Texas Financial Aid - links to programs supported by the Texas government, which are available at almost all of the accredited public and independent colleges in the State of Texas.

GED Classes - You can take the GED test in Texas if you are:

  • A resident of Texas or a member of the Armed Forces stationed in Texas

  • At least 18 years old or older and have officially withdrawn from school

  • OR at least 17 years old, officially withdrawn from school, and have the consent of your parent or guardian.
